When I got to actually booking transportation, I really looked into traveling by plane because after reading up and comparing prices, it was actually very cheap to travel by plane between different European countries, not to mention the time it would save. The remaining days of the trip, I decided to book some places on Airbnb. I managed to find 2 hosts, 1 in London and 1 in Paris for a few days. I would say 90% of the time I was rejected…not really sure if they were actually busy or just didn’t want to host me since I had no experience and references yet.

I focused on finding places to stay first and immediately I decided to try out Couchsurfing because hey, who doesn’t want free accommodations? This process took a lot of my time, sending out requests to potential hosts and anxiously waiting to hear back from them. So the fun part was over and next came the boring part of finding the best travel methods and places to stay. And BOOM, I had my “hypothetical” itinerary set. After that, I thought it was pretty logical to add Belgium in the mix since it would be on my way to Paris.

After much deliberation, I decided I needed to visit the Netherlands…working for a Dutch company and all you know. It was between Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and Czech Republic. And then came the hard decision of choosing what other countries I wanted to visit. Paris of course was going to be the main part of my trip, don’t even get my started on how long I’ve been dreaming to go. It’s probably the most similar to the states compared to the other European countries. I knew I wanted to pick London as my first experience because of the language factor. After watching a bunch of encouraging videos on YouTube about solo traveling, I told my parents and my boss and bought a round-trip ticket to London. But a few months ago after realizing that the only person holding back was myself, I decided to take the plunge.

Taking a trip abroad has been on my agenda for at least 2 years since I graduated and I kept pushing it off first for monetary reasons and then because I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to, had the time or money to go. I went on a trip for a little over 2 weeks to London, Amsterdam and Paris and just got back 2 days ago. Wow, can I just say I’m so proud of myself for finally doing this.
